About the Role
We are seeking a highly adaptable, hands-on, and resourceful Operations Manager to oversee and handle all day-to-day operations of the business. In this role, you will work directly with the owners and be responsible for executing a wide variety of tasks, from managing guest services and maintaining cabin cleanliness to creating content and planning events. This is a versatile position that combines operational leadership with hands-on execution, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and is excited to manage all aspects of the business.
This role offers a salary of $40,000 annually with the opportunity to earn up to $10,000 in bonuses based on sales performance. The position will begin with a 3-month probationary period, after which there will be an opportunity to convert to full-time based on performance and mutual fit.
Key Responsibilities:
Cabin Maintenance & Housekeeping: Personally manage and ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of all rental cabins. This includes overseeing cleaning, performing inspections, handling supplies, and directly assisting with cleaning when needed, especially during peak seasons.
Guest Services & Communication: Be the sole point of contact for guest inquiries and ensure a smooth check-in and check-out process. Handle all guest concerns and feedback promptly, ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
Operations Coordination: Oversee the daily operations of the rental business, ensuring everything runs smoothly. This includes scheduling cleaning and maintenance, ensuring cabins are ready for each guest’s arrival, and personally managing any on-the-spot issues.
Content Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a content strategy for the business. This includes writing property descriptions, creating social media posts, updating the website, and crafting email campaigns that drive bookings and engagement.
Social Media Management: Handle all social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), create regular content to promote the cabins, share guest stories, and engage with followers to build an online community and increase visibility.
Event Planning & Coordination: Plan and organize seasonal or special events such as outdoor retreats, guided hikes, or holiday celebrations. Handle the full logistics of these events, from promotion to execution, ensuring smooth operations.
Inventory & Supplies Management: Keep track of cleaning supplies, cabin essentials, and amenities. Ensure that the cabins are always well-stocked and ready for guests with high-quality items.
Vendor & Supplier Management: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for maintenance, landscaping, and other services. Ensure timely and efficient service to maintain the cabins' condition.
Guest Experience & Reviews: Ensure a memorable experience for all guests, including addressing concerns, encouraging positive reviews, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Administrative Tasks: Manage booking systems, reservations, guest requests, and maintain accurate records of cabin occupancy, maintenance, and other operational details. Assist with financial tracking and reporting as necessary.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in operations management, hospitality, or a related field, ideally in a vacation rental or tourism business.
Willingness and ability to perform hands-on tasks such as cleaning, cabin maintenance, and handling minor repairs.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks independently.
Experience with content creation and social media management, including writing posts and creating engaging content.
Proficiency in digital tools, such as social media platforms, content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and booking platforms (e.g., Airbnb, VRBO).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with guests and vendors.
Experience in event planning and coordination is a plus.
Ability to troubleshoot minor maintenance issues and perform light repairs when necessary.
Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a willingness to take initiative and make decisions on the spot.
Passion for the outdoors and an appreciation for the Adirondack region is a bonus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, perform light maintenance, and assist with cleaning and preparing cabins as needed.
Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions during peak seasons.
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $40,000 annually.
